Delkin Devices has announced its line of ruggedized waterproof CF memory cards, touting them as having the fastest read and write speeds currently available.

Kingston Digital Debuts SDHC UHS-I UltimateXX Cards

Kingston Digital, an affiliate of Kingston Technology that focuses on flash memory, has released the SDHC UHS-I UltimateXX line of memory cards.

These UHS-I cards can obtain read speeds up to 60MB/sec and write speeds of up to 35MB/sec. These speeds are three times as fast as Kingston's DHC Class 10 cards. The UltimateXX product line will offer capacities of 8GB, 16GB and 32GB and will retail for around $109, $209 and $419, respectively...

Lexar Offers CompactFlash with 600x Write Speeds

Lexar Media has released its Professional 600x CompactFlash card, which has a write speed capability of 600x (90MB/s) when paired with a UDMA 6-enabled device. The 600x card is designed to speed up workflow with minimum sustained read speed of 533x (80MB/s), or faster when paired with a UDMA 6-enabled reader. The cards are available in 8GB ($199), 16GB ($299) and 32GB (not available) capacities. Card readers retail separately for $45.

SanDisk has introduced a new line of its SDHC cards, available in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB capacities. The SanDisk Extreme III 30MB/s Edition offers enhanced transfer speeds of up to 30MB per second (when placed in SanDisk’s ImageMate Multi-Card USB 2.0 Reader/Writer) and is optimized for use with the new Nikon D90.

Compatible cameras can record 39 images in continuous shooting mode at 4.5 frames per second with a file size of 6MB JPEG L Fine per image. The cards are capable of functioning in extreme temperatures, from -13° to 185° Fahrenheit.

Sony has unveiled its next installment for its Alpha digital SLR system. The newly released DSLR-A700 digital camera features advanced imaging technology, ultra-responsive operation, dust and moisture resistance, and Super SteadyShot Inside image stabilization. The camera has a 12.2-megapixel Exmor CMOS sensor that performs analog-to-digital signal conversion and dual noise reduction.
